 The other DD movie
« Thread Started on Jul 20, 2005, 10:50pm »

It is The Trial of the Incredible Hulk. I got it from ebay real cheap, and I watched it last night.

While the movie's title is about The Hulk, Matt Murdock and DD (played by Rex Smith) get about the same amount of screen time, so it can safely be said it is a DD movie as well.

This movie is dated! My guess is that it was filmed late 70s or very early 80s. Rex looks great as Matt, and he is a cutie to watch, but that black DD costume was kind of weird. Good thing it was not red! It would have looked even weirder...

One thing that also caught my attention is that after DD is injured, he gets a downer attitude and indulges in a little pity party. Then, toward the end, he continues with that attitude, and my question is, for the more experienced comic book readers, does Matt get down like that? I'm guessing no, but the again, I still have a lot to read from vol.1.

The movie is campy and borders on cheesy, but it is fun to watch. Copies on ebay come from Asia, but that is the only version you can get, so if you can get it cheap, I recommend it for another look at our favorite hero.

Honestly, I quite enjoyed The Trail of the Hulk. I think it's a nice compliment to the theatrical DD movie. (I hadn't seen the DC when I watched The Trial of the Hulk.)

Yes, Verorl, Matt does get moppy from time to time. He usually has a good reason for doing so, but it happens.

I think I might post more on this later, but I saw this movie for the first time not too long ago. It's a little cheesy, but I quite liked it for what it was. The costume is a little weird, but I approved of the radar effect (cheap, but about the right amount of "crude," I thought). It's a bummer that Matt has an all-new cast around him compared to his usual line-up, but I think it works okay. I also kind of like the fact that they decided to skip the shades (not that I would suggest they do the same in the comics), since it's a little cliché. (Speaking of which, and off-topic, why on Earth does Milla wear sunglasses in bed?)

8-) Man, I love that smiley.
